Hair Transplant Operation with DHI Technique in Turkey

Hair Transplant Operation with DHI Technique in Turkey

DHI (direct hair implantation) is a modification of the FUE technique. In FUE and FUT hair transplants the follicles taken from the donor area are implanted in the thinning /bald areas, to restore hair growth. Before inserting the grafts, the surgeon cuts the canals in the scalp. But here's the DHI difference: Surgeons use a portable pen-shaped instrument to create those canals and implant the follicles at the same time.

How does the DHI technique work?

The doctor begins to remove hair follicles from the donor area. Subsequently, they transfer them to the areas of thinning / baldness. These transplanted units gradually grow new hair that merges with the rest.

The procedure involves the following steps:

The surgeon shaves the patient's head and administers a local anaesthetic to numb the area to be treated and to make them feel comfortable.

The surgeon uses a precision instrument to remove the follicles from the back of the scalp.

The surgeon inserts the follicles into a special instrument. All the follicles taken from the donor area are implanted in the target areas of the scalp (for example, the crown and the hairline).

The surgeon applies cream to the treated areas and bandages.

Direct Hair Implantation procedures usually take about 8 hours (as with FUE), but the length can vary. It depends on the number of follicles to be transplanted: a patient with advanced baldness will require more extensive treatment than someone with a mild receding hairline. You should see the full results of your surgery within 12-18 months.

Who can benefit from the DHI technique?

The best candidates experience baldness, as do 50% of men over 50. Surgeons can take follicles from areas of healthy growth and implant them in the affected regions. If baldness spreads from the crown, for example, the new follicles can perfectly restore coverage in that spot.

Other strong candidates share the following traits:

- Over 25 years of age: Hair loss can be difficult to predict in people under this age.

- Thick Hair: Although people with thin hair can get great results, transplants usually work best for thicker hair as each follicle has greater coverage.

- Density of 40 follicles per square centimeter: Patients with lower density tend to be weaker candidates.

- Realistic Expectations: Surgeons find that people with realistic expectations for their results are generally the most satisfied.

It is vital that you have a consultation with an expert before engaging in DHI, or any form of hair transplant, to confirm that you are a suitable candidate.

Advantages of the DHI technique

- Less bleeding and reduced crusting in the recipient area

- Fast healing, especially when combined with the collection of follicles with the FUE technique

- Natural looking results can be obtained

DHI technique is a frequently preferred technique in Turkey in recent years. Many people achieve successful results with the DHI technique. All in all, DHI hair transplants are safe procedures that give transformative and natural-looking results.
