How Does the DHI Technique Work?

DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) is a modern adaptation of the FUE technique. In traditional FUE and FUT methods, follicles are extracted and then manually implanted. With DHI, a pen-like tool allows both the channel opening and implantation to occur simultaneously.

The typical steps include:

  • Head is shaved and local anesthesia is applied
  • Follicles are extracted from the donor area using a precision tool
  • Grafts are placed directly into the scalp using a Choi implanter pen
  • Treated areas are cleaned and bandaged

The procedure takes approximately 8 hours. Full results generally appear between 12–18 months.

Who Can Benefit from the DHI Technique?

DHI is ideal for men and women with localized hair loss. Good candidates typically:

  • Are over 25 years old
  • Have thick donor hair
  • Have a density of at least 40 follicles per cm²
  • Have realistic expectations

A personalized consultation is essential before undergoing the DHI method.

Advantages of the DHI Technique

  • Less bleeding: Minimal crust formation in the treated area
  • Faster healing: Especially effective when paired with FUE extraction
  • Natural results: Allows for dense and natural-looking hair growth

DHI has become especially popular in Turkey due to its effectiveness and minimally invasive nature.
