What is a hair transplant ?
Hair transplantation, as a hair loss treatment, is the process of transplanting the roots taken from the donor area to areas where there is clarity, sparseness and baldness. Hair transplantation operations performed by a specialist team under sterile conditions take between six or eight to ten hours, depending on the size of the area to be transplanted. In this operation, it is very important that the technique to be applied is correct and that the person and the doctor follow the process well.

In addition, hair transplantation can be defined as a surgical operation that makes people feel more self-confident and respected psychologically in social life, and that completes the wishes and dreams of the person with the right operation technique and planning. Although there is more than one type of transplantation, this process is started and finished painlessly, thanks to local anaesthesia.
How does a hair transplant get performed ?
Hair transplant operation should be performed in a hospital environment under sterile conditions by a fully qualified team. In hair transplantation operations, which have many application techniques, the operation technique to be applied is from person to person; It varies according to age, gender, hair type, shedding type, shedding rate, clarity and the quality of the donor area. These techniques are:
  • FUE

The process of hair transplant operation is as follows:

  • Consultation (Doctor-patient meeting and exchange of ideas)
  • Shaving (It may vary according to the operation technique.)
  • Anesthesia application (It is inevitable for painless and painless hair transplantation)
  • Removal of follicles (removal of follicles with the help of micro-motor)
  • Collection of follicles (collection of extracted follicles to rest)
  • Implanting of roots in opened channels.
  • Exit preparation
  • First wash after the operation (It is carried out one day after the operation.)

Things that must be cared in hair transplant

Hair transplantation operations are an issue that requires attention from the beginning to the end as a process. Therefore, this entire operation should be followed with care and should be followed with care. In this regard, the following should be considered before and after the operation:

  • Checking the persons disease history and examinations
  • Following the pre-operative instructions carefully
  • Natural-looking appearance and implanting that will not spoil the golden ratio.
  • Determination of the hairline in accordance with the age and gender of the person.
  • Determination of the planting area and (or) the area to be compacted according to the needs of the person
  • Channel opening and implanting by adjusting the persons hair growth direction
  • Following the post-operative instructions carefully
  • Careful and elaborate follow-up of the person after the operation

As it is understood, hair transplantation operation is an issue that requires mutual attention. The things to be considered in this matter are not only the responsibility of the doctor, but also the responsibility of the person, and the result of the operation will be as expected if mutual attention and care is shown.

Especially patients from all over the world reach out to the Long Hair Center for their hair transplantation. They are asked to send their pictures of the donor zone –where the grafts are taken from- and implanted area- where the grafts are placed into. These pictures are analyzed by our experts

According to his analyses, a patient’s treatment report is prepared which includes the number of grafts, the number of sessions, the recipient area would be determined.

Determining of Hair Line

The patient comes to our centre on the pre-arranged operation day and is re-examined by our doctor before the operation. All detailed information about the procedure and what will happen as a result of hair transplantation is explained verbally and in writing. At the same time, anamnesis, that is, patient and disease history histories of all our patients, are noted in their personal files.

Afterwards, the patient is taken to the operating room and a blood test is performed first. If no infectious disease is found, it is time to determine the hairline. The hairline is drawn by the specialist doctor, taking into account factors such as the patient's age, facial muscles, and the golden ratio. While determining the hairline, the patient's approval and wishes are also taken into account. For a more accurate and natural hairline, millimetre meters and laser devices are used.

Local Anaesthesia

After the determined hairline is closed indelibly, the donor area of the patient is taken under local anaesthesia for hair removal. Compared to local anaesthesia sedation method, it is a method preferred more frequently by specialists. The donor area where the hair will be taken and the transplant area where the hair will be transplanted are anesthetized with local anaesthesia so that the patient does not feel pain.

Local anaesthesia is injected under the patient's skin with fine needles. In the meantime, a painless anaesthesia device can be activated to reduce the pain of anaesthesia. The painless anaesthesia device injects the anaesthetic under the skin with the method of spraying with pressure to the area to be anesthetized before local anaesthesia. In this way, 80% of the pain that can be felt in local anaesthesia is reduced.

Extraction of Follicles (FUE METHOD)

If the FUE method is used in the operation of the patient, follicle extraction is performed with the help of micromotor piasemen and devices called punches, which vary according to root thickness and length. After the hair follicles in the donor area of the person are pre-examined by the doctor, a follicle extraction process based on the principle of carving around the hair follicles is performed by using a punch according to the thickness and depth of the hair follicles and adjusting the motor speed according to the tissue stiffness in the donor area. Hair follicles are taken meticulously and homogeneously and kept in a special solution.

Opening of Channels (Sapphire Method)

After the hair follicles are removed, local anaesthesia is applied to the area where the hair will be transplanted for channel opening. Then the channel is opened with a sapphire tip. The direction in which the hair will grow and the hair density are determined by the channels opened. During the opening of the channels, the patient should remain as still as possible.

There are two factors that should be considered in the trenching process, these are size and depth. Therefore, the channels opened should be in a suitable size for the hair follicles taken; otherwise, a channel smaller than the root will damage the root during planting, or channels opened larger than the root will cause tissue destruction and scarring. In addition, the depth in which the hair follicle is placed during this process is another important factor; In this context, the depth of the canal should not be shallow in order to feed the planted root well, and at the same time, sufficient depth should be provided without damaging the feeding vessels. Canal opening is the most important part of the operation, so canal opening should be performed by a specialist doctor.

If the operation is performed with the DHI method, there is no need for channel opening.

Implanting of Follicles

After the channels are opened, it is time to implant the follicles. The local anaesthesia applied for the opening of the channel ensures that the patient does not feel anything during this period, so there is no need for an additional local anaesthesia or anaesthesia procedure for this procedure.

While the channels are being opened, the roots, which have been fed and strengthened in a special solution, are placed one by one and patiently, with the help of forceps resembling tweezers, into the previously opened channels during this process.

If the operation is performed with the DHI method, the roots placed in the Choi Pen are placed directly in the planting area.

Exit of The Operation

Exit procedures and preparations are made close to the end of the operation. After the transplanted roots are checked for the last time, PRP plasma treatment is performed and the final washing process is performed until there is no bleeding leakage.

Before exit, sugar and blood pressure vitals are checked and if everything is normal, the person is brought to a sitting position. The donor area is bandaged and wrapped with a special antibiotic cream to prevent any external infection.

This bandage stays for 1 day and is removed by the doctor when it comes to washing and checking the next day. After the check-out process is completed, the medication instructions to be used and the hospitalization positions are explained, a guarantee certificate is given and the road to the hotel is made.
